Mama Maji’s Mission Inc. was established following several trips by Bev Davis to Tanzania in order to assist the Diocese of Geita in getting contributions from the United States in order to fund borehole water wells. Recognizing a critical need for sustainable water infrastructure, Bishop Flavian Kassala had formed a specialized team of priests—including Father David Majala and Father Gerald Singu—to lead borehole drilling and technical surveying operations in the region. At that time Bev founded Mama Maji's Mission to collaborate with the Geita Diocese in their humanitarian efforts.
Our mission
The mission of Mama Maji’s Mission Inc. is to improve the quality of life in East African communities through sustainable development focused on four primary pillars: clean water access, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment. By partnering with local leaders and international organizations like Ingomar Living Waters, the organization ensures that 100% of project-specific donations are directed toward field operations to provide life-changing resources to those in desperate need.
Our vision
Our vision is to foster long-term community growth and self-sufficiency by eliminating the burdens of waterborne disease and poverty. We envision a future where every community has the infrastructure—such as solar-powered borehole wells and local bottling facilities—to support healthy families, allow children to remain in school, and create local economic opportunities.
Sowing the Seeds of Transformation
In Swahili, "Maji" means water—the most basic building block of life. Mama Maji’s Mission Inc. was established to be a "Mother of Water" for communities in East Africa, providing the nurturing support and essential infrastructure required to lift families toward health and self-sufficiency.
Our mission took root through a dedicated partnership with the Diocese of Geita, grounded in the belief that shared prayers should lead to tangible, physical progress. This vision has been brought to life through the unwavering support of Ingomar Living Waters and the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Together, we have successfully drilled five water wells that now serve as lifelines for thousands:
2023: Katoro
2024: Bukoli and Mwangika
2025: Nyarubele and Kalebezo
Beyond clean water, our foundation is built on four core pillars of impact: Clean Water Access, Educational Excellence, Compassionate Care for Orphans, and Healthcare Advancement. We didn't just want to provide a temporary fix; we started this mission to build a lasting legacy of health, opportunity, and growth for every village we touch.
